Pop Tart Recipe

***

Crust
(You can also use pre-made crust)
2 c flour
1/2 c oil
1/4 tsp salt
5 Tbl cold water

Filling
Your choice of jam/jelly

Frosting
powdered sugar
milk

Preheat oven to 425 degrees.  Mix flour, salt and oil in a bowl.  Add cold water.  Place dough between wax paper and roll out into a thin sheet.  Cut into rectangles.  Place one half of each rectangle onto a baking sheet.  Add a tablespoon or so of jelly/jam.  Place the second rectangle on top of the jam.  Use a fork to crimp the edges.  Cook 7-9 minutes.  Watch them carefully because they burn/ooze at a moments notice.  While they are cooking wisk some powdered sugar and milk in a bowl.  The thickness is a personal preference, however the thicker it is the better it will stick.  Remove the pop tarts from the oven and place on a cooling rack.  Pour the frosting on top of the pop tarts (you will want to put a cookie sheet or some wax paper under to catch the drippings).  You can add some sprinkles to spruce things up if you choose!  Let cool and enjoy!

I have also made these in bite size pieces & they are just as good and a little more convenient in terms of storage and packing in lunches/etc.
